Take Me Out to the Softball Game

Our church has a softball team - a brand new endeavor. Apparently, some of the guys who signed up to play couldn't make it to the first game, which was last night. Pastor Jeff started calling men from the church asking for players because he didn't want to forfeit the game. Gregg, being the good sport that he is, said, "I don't play very well, but if you need an extra body I'll be there!" So, we headed out to Oak Wood Baptist Church in Lee's Summit to play ball!

Here are the kids sitting happily on the blanket - this lasted a grand total of 5 minutes! Ben spilled his grape juice on a corner of the blanket and all over Christian's shorts....

Shannon was letting Alex play with her cell phone, and telling her all about the wonderful world of texting!

Christian was quite the little entertainer, as usual! He ran around with Aaron's cowboy hat on exclaiming that he was scared of Jordan's rubber eagle - only Christian called it a chicken. Everyone got a giggle out of him saying, "I scared of that chicken!" You'll notice off to the far right of the photo that Christian has his school bus in his hand - never leaves home without it!

Benjamin had a lot of fun because he got to play with toys that he's usually not allowed to play with... We don't own any swords, knives, or cap guns. Apparently, most of the other little boys at church do - and they brought all of these things to play with.

This is a picture of Wayne - Shannon's dad.

This is Bill - he has 2 boys but I can't remember their names right now....

Do you recognize Gregg behind the plate? He hit the ball several times. He also caught the ball several times when playing outfield too.

An impromptu group shot - about as good as I could get with 3 seconds to spare before the game began.

Some spectators - ladies from church
Jacinda

Anita - Shannon's mom and Joe's wife (can't remember her name either)...

I just thought this was cute with little brother looking up to BIG brother!
