Walking in Wichita

I drove to Wichita this weekend to visit my mom and dad. We had things to do - the major things being: 1. help mom decide which digital camera to buy (her first digital!) and 2. teach her how to use it. Mission accomplished! She bought a Canon Powershot A550, 7MP - it's a very cute, tiny camera, which she appropriately named, Baby. After a quick crash course on the camera, we went to Botanica for a nature walk/photo session. Mom took approx.115 pictures with her new camera, and did a great job.

I took a little over 100 pictures too. Here are some of the many photos that I took on our nature walk at Botanica. The butterflies are out early this year - this one is a Tiger Swallowtail.

Here's Mom posing by the waterfall.

Me posing by the waterfall.

There was a beautiful walkway through the gardens that was lined by vibrant tulips in varying shades of pink. It looked like something out of a fairy tale.

Everyone knows that I love tulips right?!

My mom really liked this statue (below). The little girl is holding butterflies in her hand, and she reminds me of Alex!
I love chasing insects and wildlife with my camera! I caught up with a honey bee.

A squirrel - we actually distracted him from attacking a bird's nest.
Naughty little squirrel...

And, a bird taking a bath - this little guy was dunking his head in and out of the water! I couldn't get a clear shot because he was moving around so much.

It was a lovely, productive weekend! I hope you all enjoyed your weekends as well!
